Description

Effects of rotation on frequencies of g-mode oscillations are examined for white dwarf models. Terms up to second order in angular frequency of rotation are included. It is shown that second order effects destroy equidistant distribution of frequencies associated with the first order theory of rotational splitting. Commensurabilities found in frequencies for some variable DA white dwarfs are interpreted as result of rotational splitting. This interpretation implies very low rotational velocities (approximatly10 km/s in most cases) being in quanlitative agreement with independent spectral determinations of rotation velocity for the nonvariable DA white dwarfs.
