Performance characteristics of a prototype gamma camera

  • 1. Western General Hospital, Edinburgh (UK)

Description

The results of specification measurements with sup(99m)Tc on a new gamma camera are described. The camera is hexagonal in shape with a large field of view (415 mm) and two sets of collimators - one set general purpose and the other for high resolution. Among the properties measured were resolution, uniformity, useful field of view, sensitivity, energy resolution and count rate response. The most impressive feature of the new camera is its high degree of resolution which is maintained across its large field of view. The one shortcoming of the camera was its count rate response. However, modifications are being made to the production models to improve the maximum count rate by a factor of 2. (U.K.)
