Higher order effects in the standard unified model
Description
For the establishment of the standard model as the theory of electro-weak unification, various types of electro-weak higher order effects have been studied to explore the renormalizability of the theory. It is also desirable to probe the phenomena of large energy scales. Investigations have been done to relate heavy quark masses to the rate of various rare weak processes in the six-quark model and in the general sequential model. For the analyses, it was necessary to evaluate the loop graphs for arbitrary intermediate fermion masses. The main concern of the present analysis was the rare kaon processes. The result of analysis showed that superheavy quarks were not decoupled from low energy process. Quantitative results were able to be obtained by taking the six-quark model. The experimental upper bound has been used to derive bounds on the absolute value of S2. In the case of top quark dominance, the prediction for the branching ratio was independent of the mixing angle and free from QCD radiative correction. A constraint on the top quark mass was able to be obtained. A possibly interesting application to the rare processes of mesons other than kaons was the neutral M(b-anti s)-M(anti b-s) mixing, of which the mixing rate turned out to be comparable to their life-time. Investigation of radiative correction in various types of weak processes has been made. The leading logarithmic e.m. correction to weak-interaction processes was estimated to be a few percent.
