ACTIV-computer code for automatic processing of γ-ray spectra

Description

The ACTIV computer code is intended to a precise analysis of gamma-ray and X-ray spectra and allows the user carry out the full cycle of the automatic processing of series of spectra, i. e. the calibration, the automatic peak search, the determination of peak positions and areas, the identification of the radioisotopes and the transformation of the areas found into masses of isotopes of an irradiated sample. ACTIV uses a complicated mathematical technique and is oriented mainly to large computers, but using the overlaid loading, it can run also on small computers like PDP-11/70. Compared with other similar computer codes, ACTIV has some advantages in accuracy of the peak shape description and in the reliability of the peak search and its least-square analysis. The program can be used for the purposes of the activation analysis
