On a possibility of television detection of particle tracks in a streamer chamber

Description

In an effort to establish possible applications of TV systems for recording tracks in streamer chambers, and experimental evaluation of the mean brightness of particle tracks was made by comparing it with the brightness of a reference pulse source (a photodiode, type AL 102 B). Taking into account that the streamer deexcitation time is 10-7, s, the streamer brightness was determined for a case when track streamers and photodiodes produced equal optical densities of a film. A comparison of sensitivities for different methods of optical data output was made. It has been found that if in case of direct photography on a film the relative sensitivity is equal to 1, then in case of photography through an image converter-3 the relative sensitivity constitutes 100, and in case of filmless recording of streamers with the help of a superorthicon the relative sensitivity will be 1.2
