First results concerning Iotasul for indirect lymphography in the head and neck

Description

The early results in 29 patients with tumours in the head and neck are described, on whom indirectly lymphography with the water-soluble contrast medium Iotasul had been carried out (experimental contrast medium, Schering AG). After careful sub-epidermal injection of about 12 ml contrast, either lateral to the eye or in the region of the chin, lymph vessels were seen in 25 patients and lymph nodes in 20. These were demonstrated by conventional radiography or by xero-radiography. There were no local or generalised reactions. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Es wird ueber erste Erfahrungen bei 29 Patienten mit Tumoren im Kiefer-Gesichts-Bereich berichtet, bei denen eine indirekte Lymphographie mit Iotasul (Entwicklungspraeparat der Firma Schering AG), einem wasserloeslichen Kontrastmittel, durchgefuehrt wurden. Nach korrekter subepidermaler Applikation entweder am lateralen Augenwinkel oder im Kinnbereich von durchschnittlich 12 ml Kontrastmittel wurden bei 25 Patienten Gefaesse und bei 20 Patienten Lymphknoten angefaerbt. Die Dokumentation erfolgte auf konventionellen Roentgenfilmen und xeroradiographisch. Es kam bei keinem Patienten zu lokalen Reaktionen oder allgemeinen Unvertraeglichkeitserscheinungen. (orig.)
