Description
This paper reports on the presence of four spin-echo MR characteristics allows differentiation of partially thrombosed giant aneurysms from plain intracerebral hematomas: flow phenomenon within the patent portion of the lumen (usually flow void); laminated thrombus of mixed stages in the clotted portion of the lumen; high-intensity methemoglobin that is initially central (that is, around the patent portion of the lumen) rather than initially peripheral; and signal void in the parent vessel. It is clear that more complete and specific characterization of the giant aneurysm components and associated extraaneurysmal parenchymal abnormalities is possible with MRI as compared with either CT or angiography
