Description
CO2-laser scattering experiments were performed to measure collective fluctuations in a thermal plasma containing two ion components of different mass. Coherent detection was used to obtain the necessary sensitivity and spectral resolution. Ion temperatures, ion composition, and effective charge numbers Z-bar were determined for mass numbers ranging from 1 to 40
