Study of VVH galactic nuclei using meteoritic and moon crystal detectors

Description
Crystal detectors developed from eight meteorites and two different moon samples (Luna-12 and Luna-16) have been used for the measurement of VH (Fe-group) and VVH galactic nuclei tracks. The partial annealing technique has been used to eliminate tracks formed due to charges around Z < 50. The charge spectrum for galactic nuclei has been drawn for several meteorites and moon crystal detectors after calibration and comparison with tracks developed in unexposed crystal detectors due to known cyclotron/accelerator heavy ion beams. The Eagle Station and Marjalahti meteorites confirm the existence of 6 Superheavy nuclei falling in the charge range 110 < Z < 120. The results also indicate an enhancement in the relative abundance of U-group nuclei in the galactic spaces as compared to the U-group nuclei in the solar system which is in agreement with the results of other workers.
