Variation of sintering behavior of the UO2 and UO2-5w%CeO2 compacts with a Li2O addition and oxygen potential
- 1. KAERI, Taejon (Korea, Republic of)
Description
Variation of sintering behavior of UO2 and UO2-5wt%CeO2 compacts with Li2O addition and oxygen potential was observed. At the sintering temperature of 1580 .deg. C, the oxygen potential of H2 gas with a dew point of -30 .deg. C and CO2/CO gas with 1/1 ratio is -520 KJ/mole and -245 KJ/mole, respectively, and the difference of sintered density and average grain size of UO2 was negligible between two different oxygen potentials. But sintered density and average grain size of UO2 increased at the oxygen potential of -160 KJ/mole. The average grain size of UO2-0.1wt%Li2O increased as the oxygen potential increased, while, that of UO2-5wt%CeO2-0.1wt%Li2O increased up to oxygen potential with -160 KJ/mole and then decreased beyond this oxygen potential
