Ifo: no alternative to nuclear energy

Description
The ifo-institute for economical research states that there will be no supply disturbances until 1980 despite of the impediments of the power plant construction programme, which is due to the pause in the increase of current consumption. The disturbances cannot be excluded, however, if the power plant projects planned for nuclear power and hard coal are delayed further on. According to ifo, delays in start-up and problems due to the large financing volume of 50 billion DM are possible until 1980. (orig.)

Durch die Wachstumspause des Stromverbrauchs in den Jahren 1974/75 wird es trotz der bisherigen Behinderungen des Kraftwerkbau-Programms bis 1980 zu keinen Versorgungsstoerungen kommen, stellt das Ifo-Institut fuer Wirtschaftsforschung fest. Sie sind jedoch nicht auszuschliessen, wenn die fuer Kernkraft und Steinkohle konzipierten Kraftwerksprojekte weiterhin verzoegert werden. Ifo haelt Verzoegerungen bei der Inbetriebnahme und Probleme wegen des grossen Finazierungsvolumens in Hoehe von 50 Mrd. DM bis 1980 durchaus fuer moeglich. (orig.)Additional details
