Centre-of-mass motion and microscopic nuclear effective interactions

It is demonstrated, within the framework of large-matrix diagonalization methods, that spurious centre-of-mass effects can introduce uncertainties of the order of hundreds of keV into calculations of effective interactions. (Auth.)
