Description
We have investigated the ability of the weak-coupling model of Bansal and French to describe states whose dominant configuration is f sup(7/2) particles and d sup(3/2) holes relative to a 40Ca core. The model successfully predicts the systematics for many multinucleon transfer reactions to such states, although it fails in several specific cases. By comparing predicted and measured removal and binding energies we were able to extract values of the model parameters which fit a wide range of data, stretching from A=33 to A=55. These parameters have a direct physical interpretation and can be used to put constraints on matrix elements of the effective interaction between d sup(3/2) and f sup(7/2) particles
