Anomalous reflection of electromagnetic wave from an active medium with zero-real-part-of-impedance

Description

In this paper, we shall demonstrate theoretically that electromagnetic wave with any incident angle can be totally reflected from a zero-real-part-of-impedance active medium (abbreviated as ZRPIAM) with higher refractive index. But, if the ZRPIAM has a lower refractive index, amplitude of reflection can be equal to, larger or smaller than that of the incidence depending on both incident angle and wave polarization, meanwhile, the conservation law of energy is still fulfilled. This work may enrich the understanding of reflection behaviors of electromagnetic wave from an active medium and indicate that ZRPIAM may hold unique electromagnetic properties and merit further study.
