Description
In an interview, the author of a report published by the French Observatory on marine energies comments the situation of the associated industrial sector. He notices that, even if some development can be noticed, notably in terms of jobs, many small companies seem to be on a wait-and-see situation. The shares of the different sub-sectors (wave energy, tidal energy, thermal marine energy) are commented. While tenders on marine tidal projects have been launched, a second article outlines that there are some doubts about the competitiveness of this sector, and that the sector therefore made some new propositions. A third article comments the situation of Naval Energies, a leader of the sector, as it is facing many difficulties (delays in tidal energy developments, lack of orders, failures in the field of marine thermal energy) and in needs of a State support, has decided to develop floating offshore wind turbines even though it is a completely new activity. The issue is then to keep on investing and losing money. The last article briefly comments the situation of the wave energy sector which is still an emerging one. A brief focus is proposes on two French leaders (GEPS Techno and SBM Offshore)
