Use of Lobi test facility for plant transients simulation
- 1. EURTOM Joint Research Centre, Ispra Establishment
Description
This chapter discusses a research program whose objectives are to experimentally investigate a variety of anticipated and off-normal transients and to provide an experimental data base required for the improvement and verification of large system computer codes capable of predicting such transients. The LOBI test facility is the only high pressure, integral system test facility in Europe. Topics considered include the LOBI-MOD2 test facility, LOBI procedures for typical transients simulation, loss-of-feedwater anticipated transients without scram (LOFW-ATWS) in LOBI and in a Westinghouse PWR, station blackout (SBO) ATWS in LOBI and KWU PWR (ALMOD, RELAP5 and LOOP7 calculations), and future programs. It is concluded that the LOBI-MOD2 facility can simulate both LOFW-ATWS and SBO-ATWS transients satisfactorily
