A fluiddynamical description of giant resonance states
Description
An irrotational fluiddynamical (FD) description of giant resonances based on the generalized scaling approximation is briefly surveyed and some typical results are summarized. The structure of a giant doorway state given by the FD approximation is used to study the coupling of the giant state to two-phonon states responsible for the collision damping. In the description of the coupling, the significance of effective three-body forces originating from the density -dependent potential energy functional is emphasized
