Geothermal energy: the forgotten renewable energy? - Analysis

The move away from hydrocarbons is becoming less and less contested. The boom in renewable energies is a reality, and their dominance of the energy mix in the medium term is an objective. However, the most advanced renewables have their constraints: hydroelectricity is constrained by physical realities, while wind and solar power are hampered by the absence of economically attractive storage solutions. There is another renewable source, energy from the ground, relatively neglected and, in any case, still little-known, which compensates for intermittency, is abundant and guarantees energy independence for heating. Oil majors are investing in this field, while start-ups are creating new technical and economic solutions.
