Isotope effects in extraction of metals from light and heavy water solutions

Description

The theory of isotope effect, observed by extraction of metal and acids salts from heavy water solutions through extractants not able to deuteroexchange, is developed. It is necessary to differentiate the thermodynamic isotopic effect β, which depends on the process conditions. The connection of the above effect with the change of the Gibbs energy of the ΔΔGhydr salts hydration by replacing the light water by heavy water: RTlnβ = ΔΔGhydr is established. The theoretical considerations are proved experiments
