Description

The nitrogen abundance was obtained for 47 single, 11 visual double and 41 close binary stars on the basis of high dispersion data for nitrogen lines. The non-LTE-approach was applied. The mean value of lgN (N) is 8.05 for single stars, 8.50 for close binary stars, and 8.15 for visual double stars. The abundance of nitrogen was found to correlate with the helium and carbon abundances. A considerable mixing from central parts to surface in the binary stars is supposed
