Re-emission of hydrogen and deuterium from graphite for temperatures between 1000 and 1600 K
Description
The re-emission of hydrogen and deuterium from graphite bombarded by ions with energies from 300 eV to 8 keV was found to be relatively constant for temperatures in the range 1000 to 1600 K. For temperatures above 1200 K, the observed small decrease in the re-emitted signal, < or approx.5%, is attributed to wall pumping. This explanation is consistent with thermal desorption measurements which showed a decreasing amount of retained hydrogen with increasing specimen temperature. (orig.)
