Description

The characteristic features of electron-positron storage rings completed since 1978 or under construction are listed and compared. Their common design principles are discussed, including the luminosity and the reasons why it cannot be very large, the beam-beam interaction and synchrotron radiation. The electromagnetic fields generated by the circulating beam inside the vacuum chamber are expressed in terms of wakepotentials and impedances. In turn, they are used in computer programs simulating the beam behaviour. Examples of wakepotentials and computer simulation are discussed. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

(orig.)
