Description

DNB phenomenon was investigated using two fluid Eulerian-Eulerian model coupled with improved RPI boiling model under high pressure high heat flux conditions in vertical tubes. Accurate prediction of near wall void fraction is crucial for predicting DNB. The impact of various turbulence models on DNB prediction is not known. An attempt has been made to understand the impact of various turbulence models on prediction accuracy. The models are validated with experimental data, among the investigated turbulence models RSM predicted the DNB within 9%. The result proves the capability of CFD models in accurately predicting DNB and relevance of turbulence models in DNB prediction. (author)
