The effect of small surface oscillations on color-tube fission

  • 1. Institute of Physics, USSR Academy of Sciences (USSR)

Description

We consider the effect of small oscillations of the radius of a color tube on the probability of its fission. We calculate the tunneling probability from the state consisting of an unstable vacuum + small oscillations of the fields into the stable vacuum state in a (1+1)-dimensional theory of scalar fields. We show that large-mass oscillations play an essential role in forming the color tube, and that small-mass oscillations give corrections to the fission probability which are proportional to the square of the amplitude of the oscillations
