Roentgen laser photo-pump source based on X-pinch

Description

The use of high-aperture spectrograph with spherical mica crystal permitted to register H- and He-like spectra of Al and Si with high spectral (λ/δλ ∼ 3000) and spatial (∼ 30μm) resolution both at the stage of maximal compression and of X-pinch plasma expansion. The electron temperature (up to 950 eV) and density (up to 2x1024 cm-3) are measured in the 'hot point' together with the plasma parameters at the stage of plasma expansion. The energy evaluation showed that the energy of K-lines emission may reach up to 1 J (the power of 1 GW). Total energy of 'hot point' emission for X-pinch plasma was about 1 kJ in the wavelength interval of 0.5-10 nm. So the X-pinch 'hot point' emission may be an effective pump source for active medium of roentgen laser, and recombining plasma expanded from the hit area could itself serve as an active medium for shortwavelenght lasers
