Ion beam focusing in a quadrupole-quadrupole-dipole transport system
Description
A transport system consisting of a quadrupole doublet and a magnetic dipole with homogeneous magnetic field was used to focus an ion beam. The system's focusing capability was studied under the presumption that both the quadrupoles and the dipole consist of thin lens. Conditions were derived for stigmatic focusing of the system. (J.C.)
