Nucleonic displacement cross-sections for calculation of the damage dose at 50 to 500 MeV

Description

Neutron and proton displacement cross sections in the energy range from 50 to 500 MeV have been calculated by use of the DIDACS code complex developed by the authors. Nucleon displacement cross section magnitudes are obtained for titanium, vanadium, chromium, iron, nickel, zirconium and molybdenum. The appropriate displacement cross sections for inelastic interactions are treated by using the intranuclear cascade model which takes account of particle evaporation from excited nuclei. Elastic neutron and proton displacement cross sections have been obtained by applying the optical nuclear model at energies up to 150 MeV and the Rutherford formula, respectively. The magnitudes obtained are presented as functions of the primary particle energy and mass number of a target core. The nucleonic displacement cross sections obtained could be used for estimating the radiation damage rate of the materials incorporated into accelerators and power plants exposed to high-energy nucleons
