Hinkley Inquiry opens
Creators
Description
The paper concerns the public inquiry into the Central Electricity Generating Board's proposal to build a PWR, named Hinkley C, at Hinkley Point, Somerset (United Kingdom). Power from Hinkley C would meet a need for new generating capacity and reduce reliance on fossil fuel for producing electricity. Government policies on electricity generation, privatisation of the electricity supply industry, forecasts for future electricity demand, and non-nuclear energy sources, are all discussed. (U.K.)
