Trends and prospects of radiation cytogenetic investigation: experience of Laboratory of Radiation Cytogenetic, Kharkov Institute of Medical Radiology

Description
A brief review of 10-years cytogenetic studies of low dose radiation effects on human peripheral blood lymphocytes is presented. Some results of chromosome aberration yield investigations at occupational exposure as well as in liquidators of the accident after effects at Chernobyl Atomic Power Plant and the persons evacuated from the town of Pripyat are described. The prospects of further cytogenetic research are discussed in view of development of rapid translocation frequency analysis
