Description
The rapidity distribution of πsub(+-) mesons produced in π-12C interactions was studied at psub(π)=40 GeV/c with the escape angles THETA > 8 deg and THETA <= 8 deg. In the rapidity range from approximately equal to 0.9 to approximately equal to 2.65 the π+- meson spectra coincide with π--meson spectra, this range increasing with the growth of the number of slow protons produced in the π-12C interactions. The events were selected on pictures made with a two-meter propane chamber. The comparison was made with the results for π-p interactions found on the same pictures. The criterion of the angle of particle escape was used to single out rapid and slow components among secondary particles
