Fossil energy sources within the context of energy transition. Shares in the German energy production - Memo, April 2015

Description

Within a context of a necessary energy transition, and whereas fossil energy resources are still playing an important role in the German energy mix, this publication (in French and in German) discusses the relevancy of these fossil energies for electric power production. Thus, it first indicates and comments the shares of fossil energies in the German energy mix, the evolution of power production since 1990, and the dependence on imports per energy source. It describes and comments the situation for lignite (stocks, production, electric power production, plants and their distribution in terms of age), for coal (subsidies, distribution in terms of age), for natural gas (import origins), and for mineral oil (a rather high share as primary energy but a marginal role in electric power production)
