Description
Results of the electrocaloric effect (ECE) studies of Pb(Sc/sub 0.5/Nb/sub 0.5/)O3 ceramic in the temperature range from 320 to 400 K are reported. A great value (ΔT/sub max/ = 0.9 K) of the electrocaloric effect is observed. The temperature and field dependence of ECE is consistent with the presumption of a polar and nonpolar phase mixing at temperatures above the dielectric constant maximum temperature. The great value of ECE in Pb(Sc/sub 0.5/Nb/sub 0.5/)O3 can be attributed to the great temperature dependence of dielectric polarization in the polar regions, which is hardly affected by the electric field.
