Description

Tomography is a process of obtaining a single plane image of an object under examination. The quality of such images is dependent on a few factors including properties of the hardware components in a tomography system. The paper describes the hardware systems for both gamma ray and X-ray computed tomography and presents CT images from both systems. Tomographic imaging using these two modalities in different configurations is discussed. The apparatus used in the second generation and third generation tomography system configuration is explained.
