TRACK-A program to track charged particles through a magnetic field and plot the path

Creators

Description

The TRACK/BEAM commands of GFUN 3-D are useful for tracking a charged particle through a magnetic field and plotting the path. It was felt the subroutines associated with these two commands would form a useful stand-alone program where the user supplied the magnetic field instead of the GFUN 3-D calculated field. Hence, measured fields could also be used. The user supplied fields are stored on disk as a field map or as the edge field of a uniform field magnet. This report is intended as a user guide for the two programs TRACKEDG and TRACKMAP which are members of the cataloged partitioned data set B06643.TRACK.LOAD. A file FT19F001 must contain the field values. A second file FT16F001 is needed to store the plot information. The graphic subroutines have been written for use on the TEKTRONIX 4012 graphic display console in the TSO mode
