Description

Full text: A wide range of metals and their alloys have been used as implant materials. Such materials should exhibit, as main characteristics, good resistance to corrosion and good biocompatibility. Other important requirements for their use are good mechanical strength and fatigue. With the increase in life expectancy of the population and the progressive growth in the number of orthopedic and dental surgeries, metal alloys dedicated to medical applications are being increasingly studied. The techniques and materials used in implants increased the use of restorative prostheses in order to create alternatives related to the types of materials and their biological responses to the patient. The objective of this work was to study the effect of corrosion and the performance of the incorporation of a natural bactericide on the titanium substrate in mouthwash medium. These materials were characterized before and after coating using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared (FTIR) and polarization corrosion tests. The results showed the effectiveness of the biomimetic coating with natural bactericide doped hydroxyapatite and its high performance against the mouthwashes that were used. References [1] S.
