Description

Magnetic susceptibility and magnetization measurements have been performed on diluted heavy fermion compounds (UxLa1-x)Ru2Si2. At high temperatures, the temperature dependence of the susceptibility and the large magnetic anisotropy were analyzed by means of the crystalline electric field theory. It was shown that the ground state is the doublet (Γ(2)t5 or Γ(1)t5) and the first excited state is a singlet located at about 103K above the ground state. The measurements at low temperatures below about 25K suggest the existence of a single site screening of the localized magnetic moment. ((orig.))
