Determination of nuclear lifetimes by the use of the blocking effect

Creators

Description

This lecture is going to be presented in essentially three parts: a rather general description and a review of the various types of work going on in the field of nuclear lifetimes measurements using blocking techniques; a discussion of the analysis of the way in which one arrives at nuclear information from the measurements, this topic being closely connected to the use of particle channeling for location analysis of impurity ion; a description of a particular case (proton-scattering in Ge). This case will be used to illustrate the kind of nuclear physics questions that one can study and to make some detailed comparison of experimental results to calculations
