All beefed up : an old friend of the oilpatch, Accumap, has been given a makeover

Accumap software has been used by engineers, landmen and geologists to access and query public petroleum databases for the last 16 years. This article described a new software program designed by IHS called Enerdeq Desktop, which has the ability to respond to queries far more quickly than Accumap. The software is aimed at oil and gas industry professionals who wish to perform studies and need to quickly gather and analyze pertinent well production, pipeline, and battery information. IHS has been collecting and licensing databases in a wide range of sectors over the last decade, and purchased Accumap as part of its strategy to create a platform on which similar systems around the world could be globally accessed. The software is a refinement of the Accumap software, in which large volumes of information can be used to create detailed analysis. The centre map feature is flanked by pull-down menus that allow users to access and display a wide range of data. Maps can be customized to meet land sales, tie-ins, and joint ventures. The cursor can also instantly display producing formations, production history, and a host of other information. Proprietary data can be incorporated into the software, and the system is designed to be installed on a stand-alone unit. IHS plans to launch an updated version of the software in 2007, which will have the ability to integrate land and sale data. Another version will be released in 2008 which is aimed at geologists and geophysicists, and will include release, sub-surface analysis data, and improved data currency.
