Description

After ten years of operation the C.B.N.M. two sections S-band electron linac has been modernized. A completely new S-band accelerator was built. It consists of a two meter long standing wave buncher, followed by two six meter long travelling wave sections. Also the triode gun and the associated electronic circuits have been completely redesigned. With this new machine the zero current energy has been increased by about a factor of two up to 150 MeV, and the beam power at 10 ns burst was raised from 3.75 kW to 8.5 kW. The main feature are bursts of 4 ns widths (fwhm), 9 A peak current and 4 kW average power. (Auth.)
