Investigation of tribological phenomena in sodium for LMFBR
Creators

Description
Stellite 6, Colmonoy 5, Inconel 718 and chromium carbide/nichrome were tested at a temperature of 280/degree/ to 600/degree/C. As regards friction, chromium carbide/nichrome was most stable, while Stellite 6 showed temperature dependency. Inconel 718 showed the highest kinetic friction coefficient. Colmonoy 5 formed a degraded layer on the surface. Ball bearings made of Stellite 1 and 6 were tested in sodium or argon gas with sodium vapor at 300/degree/C. 2 refs
