Determination of the half-wave potential of nobelium
- 1. Oak Ridge National Lab., Tenn. (USA)
Description
The half-wave potential of nobelium was experimentally estimated to be - 1.6 V vs the standard hydrogen potential for the reaction No2+ + 2e- = No(Hg). A modified radiopolarographic technique was used in which the decrease in concentration of nobelium was determined as a function of potential during deposition of nobelium into a Hg-pool electrode. About 500 to 1000 atoms of cyclotron-produced 255No102 were used per experiment. (author)
