Coordinate measurement in a hodoscopic spectrometer

Description

A method to determine the coordinates of γ-quanta or high energy electrons in a hodoscope spectrometer by means of measuring the coordinates of the energy yield centre Y0 of a shower is described. It is shown that the coordinate of the shower energy centre is a drift evaluation of the coordinate of a γ-quantum. The Ysub(c)-Ysub(o) drift is small if a NICE spectrometer is used (it is a 648-channel scintillation spectrometer). The drift can be allowed by introducing a low correction which is to be found experimentally. After correction Ysub(c)-Ysub(o) is introduced, the difference between mean values of the measured and real coordinate is less than 0.4 mm
