Study of phase composition and preferred orientation of epsilon-martensite in a Fe-Mn alloy by reverse polar figures method

  • 1. Ural'skij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Sverdlovsk (USSR)

Description

By the X-ray method studied is the appearence of preferred orientation of crystals of hexagonal epsilon martensite in iron-manganese alloy while deformation. Calculation formulas are presented to find out the content of γ-, epsilon-, α-phases in texturized samples. It is established that martensite texture is determined by the sign of applied stresses, along the extension axis normal is mainly oriented to the (anti 1011) plane, along the compression axis normals are oriented to the (anti 1012) and (anti 1013) planes. Austenite has texture characteristical to textures of metals with f.c.c. lattice < 111 > while extension and < 100 > while compression
