Structural integrity of vacuum buildings for large CANDU nuclear plants
Description
The vacuum building is one of the major safety features of Ontario Hydro's CANDU reactors, and assurance is required of its continuing integrity. Extensive pre-service testing of a new vacuum building under simulated emergency conditions is being performed. Periodic in-service evaluation of concrete structural components of another vacuum building has been carried out to assure structural reliability
