Results from the SPEAR magnetic detector with the lead-glass-addition

Description

Results from the SP-26 experiment at SPEAR are reported. First we discuss the parameters of the PSI(3772) recently discovered in this experiment. This resonance is just above threshold for D production, therefore we have been able to measure the D masses with high precision. Next we report measurements of D branching fractions into hadronic and semileptonic modes; the hadronic branching fractions are reported here for the first time and include a number of decay modes not observed before. At higher e+e- center of mass energies we present some data relevant to charmed baryon production in e+e- collisions. Finally, we discuss the data on heavy lepton production obtained in this experiment. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Ergebnisse des Experiments SP-26 bei SPEAR werden vorgelegt. Zuerst werden die Parameter der PSI(3772) Resonanz diskutiert, die vor kurzem in diesem Experiment endeckt wurde. Diese Resonanz liegt gerade oberhalb der Schwelle fuer D-Produktion; daher war es moeglich, die D-Massen mit hoher Genauigkeit zu bestimmen. Anschliessend werden Messungen der Verzweigungsverhaeltnisse in hadronische- und semihadronische Moden geschildert; die hadronischen Verzweigungsverhaeltnisse werden hier zum ersten Mal angegeben; sie beinhalten eine Zerfallsmode, die bisher noch nicht beobachtet wurde. Bei hoeheren e+e--Schwerpunktsenergien werden Daten angegeben, die im Hinblick auf die Erzeugung von charmanten Baryonen in e+e--Stoessen von Interesse sind. Schliesslich werden die in diesem Experiment gewonnenen Daten zur Erzeugung schwerer Leptonen diskutiert. (orig.)
