Spotlight on NHS labs

  • 1. Leeds General Infirmary (UK). Dept. of Nuclear Medicine

Description

A brief article examines a small group of national health service workers who may encounter the AIDS virus, reviews the changes they have devised to minimize the risks to themselves and considers the obstacles that remain to prevent the full implementation of these changes. The article also discusses the importance of reducing the radiation dose limits for workers. Ways of reducing occupational exposure of personnel involved in radiology, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy are described. It is argued that cash limits should never compromise worker safety.
