Reorientation effect measurement of even mercury isotopes

Description
Reorientation effect and multiple Coulomb excitation measurements have been performed for 198,200,202,204Hg. By measuring particle spectra after Coulomb excitation of an enriched 198Hg target with 4He and 16O beams, a positive quadrupole moment of Q2 =0.66+-0.18 eb (for negative interference) of Q2 = 0.80+-0.18 eb (for positive interference) and B(E2,0 → 2) = 0.991+-0.006e2b2 were obtained. All other B(E2) values and quadrupole moments were determined relative to these numbers from precise γ-ray yields obtained from Coulomb excitation of a frozen sup(nat)Hg target with 4He and 16O projectiles. Oblate shapes of all Hg isotopes were found. The data have been interpreted in terms of triaxial rotation and anharmonic vibrations. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
An 198,200,202,204Hg wurden Messungen des Reorientierungs-Effekts und der mehrfachen Coulomb-Anregung durchgefuehrt. Durch Messung von Teilchen-Spektren nach Coulomb-Anregung einer angereicherten 198Hg-Targets mit 4He- und 16O-Strahlen erhielten wir ein positives Quadrupolmoment von Q2 = 0,66+-0,18 eb (fuer negative Interferenz) bzw. Q2=0,80+-0,18 eb (fuer positive Interferenz) sowie B(E2,0 → 2) = 0,991+-0,006 e2b2. Alle anderen B(E2)-Werte und Quadrupolmomente wurden aus genauen aus Coulomb-Anregung eines gefrorenen sup(nat)Hg-Targets mit 4He- und 16O-Projektilen erhaltenen Gamma-Raten relativ zu diesen Zahlen erhalten. Alle Hg-Isotope wiesen oblate Formen auf. Die Daten wurden in Termen von triaxialer Rotation und anharmonischen Schwingungen interpretiert. (orig.)Additional details
