Numerical simulation of turbulence generation due to boiling bubble

Description
In boiling two-phase flow, bubbles are generated from heated wall and collapse. These bubbles considerably alter the turbulent structures of boiling two-phase flow. In view of this, modeling and analysis of turbulence in boiling two-phase flow were carried out. In the modeling of turbulent source term in boiling two-phase flow, the knowledge of the flow induced by boiling bubble is quite important. Then, three-dimensional simulation of turbulence induced by bubble growth and collapse on the heated wall under forced convective condition was carried out. Three-dimensional flow induced by single bubble growing and collapsing on the heated wall was calculated using potential flow analyses. Results indicated that turbulence due to boiling bubble has quite important effect on the turbulence even in the core region as well as wall. (author)
