Radiation damage connection with the electronic structure of metals
Description
A model of a metallic solid in a radiation field is considered. State diagrams of the metal in the radiation and temperature fields are given. Existence and role of the electronic structure of defects are noted. Relation between the electronic structure of metals and thermodynamic parameters of defects is shown to exist. It is supposed that the electronic structure of a metal and local electronic structure of defects should necessarily be taken into account when calculating damages and dynamics of radiation-stimulated processes. Mention is made of possible usage of the data on the electronic state of defects obtained by the methods of positron-electron annihilation, for evaluating radiation damage of metals
