Basic principles of therapy of local radiation injuries
Creators
Description
Local radiation injuries (LRI) are characterized by changes of phase character of the course which are similar to general ones, typical for radiation effect. But their latent period is shorter. They can aggravate patient state from the first day after irradiation in combination with acute radiation sickness. Injury depth depens on radiation dose, energy, area (mass and structure of irradiated tissues); its prognosis dictates the volume and dates of the necessary medical treatment. Basic directions of conservative LRI treatment are distinguished. Radical necrectomy with plastic substitution of tissue defect is necessary when possibilities of conservatie treatment are exhausted or in early periods according to prognosis of dose level and clinical characters
